            DREAM CAREER

            CLARE COPLAND - CATWALK PRODUCER

When I saw this interview I remember she was the lady come to visit us at AUCB, and we had a great workshop, lots of styling tip she gave us and challenged us for some excises. Since then I knew I made a right choice for wanting to be Stylist- but downside of it:( when I talk to Clare over a lunch she told me that wages are low and very compatible world I am steping into. So I should consider atleast!!! 1 year maybe 2 intership with a stylist and hopefully that will lead to a job, how it has happened with her and she said she was lucky!!

            CAREER WEBSITES

            • MINTEL: I found that website useless for Fashion careers, I have even difficulty finding the website!!

            • FASHION MONITOR: It is very interesting and informative, easy to use website, happy to use this website but annoyingly you need to sign up-Job vacancies for more for experience people, no intern vacancies.

            • COMPANIES HOUSE: Woww what a wrong website to look for fashion/desing jobs or info. Not appealing at all!!

            • FASHION INDEX: Very informative, if you want to know what s going around in the fashion bussiness, could not quite finished reading most of the staff but very helpfull, not helpful to find a job but you get re-directed to some ads on the websites thats helpful.

            • DRAPERS RECORD: As great as Draper's itself, there are no stylist jobs, nor freelance neither.More for who wants to work in retail or business side of it. But worth checking for.

            by

            KATIE ELL

            Tapestry, 51-52 Frith Street,London

A PIECE OF MY MIND is the latest collaboration between London-based Photographer Katie Ell and Creative Director Paul Alexandrou. From the wildly irreverent to the deeply heartfelt, the series documents the different words and messages people choose to have tattooed on their bodies. Collected over a nine-month period, the project explores the power of language, the line between public and private, and the universal need to share what’s on our mind.

Hand Made Tales is a timely exhibition focusing on the role domestic crafts play in many women’s experiences. It draws on the connections between the current revival of domestic crafts such as sewing, gardening, and cooking and the historical roots of the domestic arts within the home. The exhibition will allow visitors to explore and learn the stories of crafts and the women involved in them through personal tales and fun interactive projects.

            CONCEPT STORES

            ANTHROPOLOGIE

Anthropologie may be a little on the expensive side - but how pretty all the products are. The downstair area is full of the type of kitchen knick-knacks that wouldn't look out of place in Sophie Dahl's kitchen - think overpriced plates with pictures of the Eiffel Tower and deliciously scented kitchen candles. There are similarities with Urban Outfitters, but it's safe to say that Anthropologie is the slightly older sister - the prices are definitely for those on more 'adult' incomes. The clothes might be a little too expensive for my tastes - but downstairs are where the real treasures lie. I would recommend the store as a great place to go to buy slightly more unusual gifts for your friends and family.
